A COVID-19 outbreak in Renfrew County is connected to a close-knit community of 30-families in Whitewater Region.
Whitewater Region includes Beachburg, Cobden, the former Township of Ross and Westmeath.
The health unit says so far it looks like the outbreak is confined to the community, however staff are following up with a small number of external contacts.
All high-risk contacts will be contacted for testing and tracing.
The RCDHU says the virus likely came into the community from a visitor from Southern Ontario.
Health unit staff say the infection spread from one family to another, probably in the school.
No further information about the close knit community could be released as the health protection and promotion act and personal health information protection act prevents the RCDHU from disclosing personal information.
