Pembroke Mayor Mike Lemay has put out a message to local residents.
Lemay reminds residents of the provincial shutdown that restricts residents from interacting with members from outside your household and talks about how online learning has been extended until January 25th.
The Pembroke Mayor says this is a difficult time for everyone and is encouraging teachers, parents and students to be patient as they continue to navigate these next few weeks.
Under the provincial shutdown the City of Pembroke has closed the Kinsmen Pool, the Pembroke Memorial Centre and Pem Ice II until further notice. Outdoor amenities including skating rinks at Kinsmen and Rotary Park are currently open every day from 7:00am to 10:00pm. The City of Pembroke has also started up a snowshoe lending program.
Lemay says he was so encouraged before Christmas to drive down Pembroke Street and seeing so many residents supporting local businesses. The Pembroke Mayor is reminding everyone that many local shops offer online shopping, curbside pick up and delivery.
The City of Pembroke is also looking for residents to apply for the newly created Diversity Advisory Committee.
With COVID-19 numbers on the rise across the province, Lemay says it’s more important than ever to follow public health guidelines and wear a mask, wash your hands often and maintain physical distance from those outside of your household.
The Mayor says we are faring well in Pembroke so far and the credit belongs to our essential workers and residents for continuing to be diligent.
