A documentary and 3D visual tour of the Douglas Tavern is in the process of being put together. Director and Co-Owner at Horizon Visuals, Alex Comtois, says growing up in Douglas, he knows how important the Tavern is to Admaston/Bromley and the Ottawa Valley as a whole.
The name of the documentary is “The Diddley”.
Comtois, an Algonquin College broadcasting graduate, says the goal is to share stories and highlight impact the Douglas Tavern has had.
The director of the documentary says for one week every year the population of Douglas grows from about 200 to 1,000. Comtois adds they want to highlight some of the other things that take place at the Tavern and tell the whole story.
A go-fund-me page has been set up to help raise money for the cost of equipment. A goal of $5,000 has been set with just over $1,300 raised so far. Comtois says anything they raise above their goal will be donated back to the local food bank.
Comtois says with the COVID-19 pandemic, the completion date is still up in the air, but he hopes to have the documentary out this summer.
Once finished, the documentary and 3D virtual tour will be available view at no cost on Horizon Visuals website.
