The service delivery improvement project at the County of Renfrew administration building located at 9 International Drive in Pembroke will cost over $4.8-million.
The county had originally planned to spend $3.75-million, but the revised project cost has come in at $4,896,513.
That’s $1.14-million over the original budget.
Treasurer Jeff Foss told county council earlier this week (May 26th, 2021), additional costs include $300,000 for the renovations to the council chambers, $405,000 for order changes and another $465,000 for the redesigned space for paramedic services which includes a training area, classroom and potential for the emergency operations centre.
Since the County of Renfrew is moving out of five commercial office locations in Pembroke into the newly renovated space, there will be about $465,000 each year in savings.
The county will be financing just over $3-million of the project cost.
Foss says they expect to have the building completely paid off in 2027 using the $465,000 they’re saving each year.
The county administration building was designed to house all of the county services offered in Pembroke at one location.
Once the renovations are complete, the building will be home to Corporate Services, Development and Property, Public Works and Engineering, the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association, Enterprise Renfrew County, Provincial Offences Court, Renfrew County Housing Corporation, Ontario Works, Child Care and Paramedic Services.
The expected completion date is June 25th, 2021.
