Bonnechere Valley Mayor Jennifer Murphy is the sparkplug, as for the second pandemic year-in-a-row the Township hosts an outdoor fireworks display for the nation’s birthday.
The Eganville Leader is reporting Murphy got the concept on the agenda at a recent committee meeting of Council and won approval for the event.
The Canada Day festivities will be fireworks-only because social distancing is not difficult to achieve with residents able to keep their eyes on the skies from almost anywhere in the community.
Mayor Murphy says it will provide a sense of normalcy for people needing it.
Different from last year, the village bridge will remain open during the event.
July 1st falls on a Thursday this year.
