UPDATE: The Acting Medical Officer of Health with the RCDHU is taking back a statement made earlier today (June 16th, 2021), where he gave the green light to outdoor haircuts. Doctor Robert Cushman says hairdressers are regulated with certain specifications and standards to adhere to which is very difficult to do outside.
Joe’s Barber Shop in downtown Pembroke has reopened for outdoor haircuts.
The local barber shop posted on social media they would be reopening on Tuesday (June 15th, 2021), despite personal care services not being permitted to open in Ontario.
An outdoor table and chairs have been set up behind the barber shop to offer the haircuts.
Acting Medical Officer of Health with the Renfrew County and District Health Unit, Dr. Robert Cushman, previously said he doesn’t see a problem if it’s just two people and they’re both wearing masks, but later retracted the statement saying hairdressers are regulated with certain specifications and standards to adhere to which is very difficult to do outside.
