Summerhill Resorts is taking over and redeveloping a 328 acre trailer and campground in Whitewater Region.
The lands are accessed by Rafting Road and includes property formerly used by Wilderness Tours.
Summerhill Resorts plans to use the existing trailer sites, cottages, chalets and other tourist commercial buildings and structures for a trailer and campground park in the Spring of 2022.
The location at 503 Rafting Road has 62 existing trailer sites, six chalets, two cottages/beach houses, the existing rafting building, recreation facilities and a pavilion.
The first phase will see recreational vehicle sites connected to the existing hydro, water and wastewater systems that are already in place.
Water and wastewater assessments have been submitted to demonstrate adequate potable water and sewage disposal.
In a report presented to council, it says since no subsurface site works are proposed and the first phase is merely to re-establish or convert former recreational vehicle and cottage site, it is anticipated that this phase will have no greater impact on the natural heritage than the previous use.
Economic Development Officer and Planner with the Township of Whitewater Region Ivan Burton told members of council Summerhill Resort also recently purchased Logos Land and operates a number of parks across Ontario.
Council approved the site plan control application as part of the November 17th municipal meeting.
