POLAR DIP CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19/ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE TO TAKE PLACE INSTEAD/DONATIONS WILL STILL SUPPORT THE PEMBROKE and LAURENTIAN VALLEY HANDI-BUS
It’s one of the coldest fundraisers of the year with money raised going to the Pembroke and Laurentian Valley Handi-Bus.
Pembroke City Councillor Brian Abdallah has sponsored myFM reporter and news anchor Rudy Kadlec to take the Polar Bear Dip into the icy Ottawa River in February.
Abdallah says money raised goes towards a great cause.
The Pembroke councillor handed over a $50 cheque at the Pembroke Marina and Waterfront, where the Polar Plunge will be taking place, on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021.
Abdallah says while he will not be taking the plunge himself, he’s happy to get behind the initiative, help fundraise and challenges others to make a donation to support the Handi-Bus.
Deputy Mayor Ron Gervais who is also the Chair of the Handi-Bus Committee says this is their biggest fundraiser of the year.
Gervais says you can come watch the event at 11:00am on Sunday, February 6th, 2022.
Pledge forms for those interested in taking the Polar Bear Dip can be picked up at the City of Pembroke recreation office (at the PMC), the Pembroke & Laurentian Valley Handi-Bus Office (170 Ellis Avenue in Pembroke) or at Shepherd & Gervais Law Office at 290 Pembroke Street East.
For those who don’t want to take the plunge, but still want to support this initiative, you can drop off donations to the myFM studio in Pembroke, mail them into myFM (84 Isabella Street, Unit #4, Pembroke, Ontario, K8A 5S5) or send an e-transfer to PembrokeCC@mbcmedia.ca (no password is required for the e-transfer as we are set up for auto-deposit).
All donations over $20 are eligible for a charitable receipt. If you would like a receipt, please include your name and address when sending donations.
