The Killaloe Pathways Park has received a $46,650 donation from Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group.
Community Development Officer for the Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards, Chris Neff, says the funding will help them complete the first stage of work planned.
The first phase of work at the Killaloe Pathways Park is installing a 0.4 kilometer fitness trail with ten low impact stations and workout areas for seniors and people of all ages.
A 0.6 kilometer reading and art walk with 18 stations is also planned along with basic items such as garbage, recycling, compost, accessible picnic tables and climbing structures.
Neff says for the second phase of the park they hope to install a “garden of gardens”. He adds this will include an Indigenous healing garden, Cancer survivors garden, a regular community garden and greenhouse.
The third phase for the Killaloe Pathways Park would be to refurbish the old barn on the property and turn it into a community arts and culture centre.
Neff says they have 13 community organizations including local businesses, resource centres and schools working on the project.
He adds the Killaloe Pathways Park has a website and the public can submit feedback and ideas of things they want to see.
The Killaloe Pathways Park is located off of Highway 60 and Queen Street.
