The County of Renfrew is warning drivers about potential delays with the incoming “freedom convoy”.
The demonstration is expected to pass along Highways 17 and 417, with organizers planning to stop at truck stops in Pembroke and Arnprior tomorrow afternoon (Friday, January 28th, 2022).
In order to accommodate the large volume of truck traffic in the demonstration, the County of Renfrew has announced County Road 2 (Daniel Street & White Lake Road) will be closed from Baskin Drive to Campbell Drive with access only permitted to emergency vehicles and participants in the demonstration.
The road closure in Arnprior will start at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon and end at midnight.
Additional lane closures are anticipated the following morning to prioritize truck access to Highway 417.
The City of Pembroke has also announced plans to close Paul Martin Drive at Boundary Road to all southbound traffic from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
There will be no access for traffic to cross the bridge on Paul Martin Drive.
The request from the OPP to close the road is in the interest of public safety.
Travel times, especially on Highway 14 and 417, will be significantly impacted and travelers are advised to use alternate routes if possible.
